Cobol is a language developed by the US military in the 1950 that remains
in use today. Many legacy business and finance application systems
continue to use this classic programming language. Although new
systems are rarely coded in Cobol, there is an ongoing need to support the
many legacy Cobol applications that remain in production.
Because most Cobol programmers have either moved on to other endeavors or
have retired, there is still a demand for people with strong Cobol coding
skills.
