The demand for experienced software coders exceeds supply
in many parts of the world. As a result, many employers are eager to
hire software coders from other countries. A growing number of
contracts are being awarded to companies based in
India and other developing nations where English is spoken. Not
only do these countries have a well educated workforce with a strong work
ethic, the cost of labor is often less expensive.
To physically work in another country, a work visa or permanent resident
certificate of some sort is normally needed. There are, however, many
bilateral agreements between nations that allow workers in one country to
work in the other country. This topic is addressed in more detail in
our employment section.
In short, there are many opportunities available for software coders to work
abroad, particularly for coders with strong software development skills that
are in demand.
